With the patient fixating a distance
object with both eyes open, place
the index finger of the left hand AT
THE UPPER LID MARGIN OVER THE
LASHES and the index finger the
right hand AT THE LOWER LID MARGIN
OVER THE LASHES. Holding the lower
lid in place against the cornea to
prevent the lens from sliding under
the lid, bring the upper lid down
against the top edge of the lens
catching the lens between the lids.
As the upper lid is brought down it
will force the lens off the cornea,
usually the lens will fall onto the
lashes where it can be picked up or it can be caught by the right hand.
The lids must be brought against the top and bottom edge of the lens-not off to the side as this will just pushed the lens side-ways and not off the cornea.
